I am an experienced hands-on engineering leader with a Ph.D. in Computer Science, over 30 years of industry experience, 20 years of management experience, more than 40 professional publications, 10 patents, and two text books: "API Design for C++" and "Level of Detail for 3D Graphics."I'm also a Fellow of the IEEE, a Fellow of the AAIA, an ACM Distinguished Engineer, and I was awarded Alumnus of the Year by my alma mater, Strathclyde University, in 2019. I have spent half of my career working in the area of 3D computer graphics and animation, and the latter half spent in the area of conversational artificial intelligence (AI) and virtual assistants. Along the way, I have founded two companies and have led engineering teams building a broad range of projects including web, mobile, voice, and desktop applications.While at Pixar, I had the privilege to contribute toward several Academy Award Winning films, such as Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Ratatouille, and WALL-E. In fact, I was the hair model for Mr Incredible.

This involved building and maintaining a large C++ desktop application with extensive scripting APIs accessible via C++ and Python. Previous to this, I took on the role of infrastructure technical lead, during which time I was responsible for developing our automated testing, code coverage, performance testing, build, and documentation infrastructure.I also worked directly as a C/C++ engineer on Pixar's in-house filmmaking software, adding new features from deep core changes all the way up to new GUI workflows.
