Research and technical consulting in clinical trials, experimental design, software usability testing and evaluation, multivariate data analysis and visualization, algorithm development, psychometric measurement and diagnostic assessment, neural and biomedical (e.g., EEG, evoked potentials, etc) signal processing and analysis.

Served as research and data scientist as well scientific project director on a range of NIH- and corporately-funded projects at Indiana University. Ongoing work and interests include estimation, hypothesis testing, and causal modeling in quasi-experimental designs of risk factors in the development of psychopathology, cognitive/intellectual functioning, and long-term, social outcomes (PI: Dr. B. D'Onofrio). Developed software routines and algorithms to extract and integrate heterogeneous information from large population databases. Written code that significantly improves the efficiency of large-scale, and computationally intensive, analyses involving semi-parametric survival, logistic regression, and linear mixed-effects model estimation, for example. Also currently active in clinical optics research (PI: Dr. P. Kollbaum) evaluating the diagnostic potential of corneal topographical indices, both alone and in combination, for differentiating clinical and sub-clinical forms of keratoconus. Specifically, our goal is to use bio-mechanical information from different parts of the cornea to develop predictive models that facilitate early detection of keratoconus.

Research Scientist and Psychoacoustics Lab Director in the Advanced Research group (Director: Dr. Dianne Van Tasell). Multidisciplinary team responsible for a rapid R&D cycle that lead to the production of Starkey's first DSP-based hearing aid, i.e., Axent. Work required innovative use experimental psychology and engineering methods to evaluate algorithm performance. Designed and developed application-specific software for behavioral experiments, and data modeling and simulation. Served as in-house statistical and DOE consultant on several critical engineering- and production-related challenges.

Research Fellow in Psychoacoustics Laboratory (PI Dr. NF Viemeister). Quantitative modeling of brain activity reflected in single-neuron responses (i.e., non-primate single-unit spike train data) to amplitude modulated sinusoidal carrier signals. Studied neural networks and applications to sensory processing, perception, learning, and memory; digital signal processing including spectral estimation, filter design and implementation, etc.
