PicPay, the largest digital wallet in Latin America, extends a wide array of financial services, including peer-to-peer payments, BNPL, credit cards, personal loans, benefits, insurance, investments, and cryptocurrency to a vast user base of over 70 million individuals and serves the needs of 5 million merchants.As the head of the Foundation Engineering organization at PicPay, overseeing a team of more than 200 engineers, architects, SREs, product managers, and designers, I’m responsible for multiple core engineering functions, including the overall architecture standards, oversight of cloud infrastructure, development of internal platforms, providing robust observability solutions, driving enhancements in developer productivity, and guiding the evolution of PicPay’s mobile platform.As part of the executive leadership team at PicPay, I also contribute to high-level decision-making, provide strategic direction, and collaborate with fellow leaders to align our engineering efforts with the company's broader business goals.- Implemented a Platform Engineering strategy, effectively creating a foundational layer that abstracted application and infrastructure complexity, promoted consistency and reusability, abd reduced cognitive load.- Created the Internal Developer Portal (IDP) and consolidated developer tooling, including tens of CI/CD, observability and source code management solutions, creating a single cohesive development experience.- Consolidated the development stack, combining hundreds of combinations of programming languages, runtimes and frameworks into 3 centrally maintained stacks.- Renegotiated contracts with the largest infrastructure and observability vendors, improving annualized cost by 22%+ and effectively reducing cost-to-serve.- Implemented the FinOps practice across PicPay, focusing on cost visibility and monitoring, unit economics and cloud usage optimization, generating over $30M in annualized savings and helping drive efficient growth.

In addition to the Foundation Engineering organization, I also assumed leadership of the Data Platforms division, comprised a diverse team of more than 100 professionals, including data engineers, data scientists, developers, and product managers. My responsibilities in this role encompassed the oversight of all data and machine learning platforms, data engineering, and data governance. I served in this capacity until September 2023, at which point a Chief Data Officer (CDO) was appointed, leading to the centralization of all data and machine learning functions at PicPay.

At Snowflake, my mission was to enhance the company's cloud data platform. This included architectural improvements to the central components of the platform, defining a performance analysis tooling strategy, prototyping tools to enhance system observability, refining service deployment models for increased availability, and implementing improvements in issue detection and alerting, including self-healing capabilities. These efforts have played a role in positively impacting Snowflake's performance, ensuring a more stable and efficient user experience for its customers.

As a Performance Architect at Netflix, I've worked on critical aspects of system optimization and reliability. This included designing scalable architectures for complex systems, prototyping solutions, defining cloud architecture standards and best practices, and creating abstractions to solve common performance problems.My role has also encompassed coordinating collaborative efforts to address performance issues, aligning efforts with other organizations and stakeholders, and providing strategic direction to the organization in regards to the performance, reliability, scalability and efficiency of Netflix’s systems.In addition to that, I’ve developed multiple tools (see projects section), both internal and open-source, and consistently conducted performance analysis and tuning across all layers of our systems, helping enhance service reliability and overall performance, ultimately supporting Netflix's mission to deliver a seamless streaming experience to its global audience.
