Backend code is in Java. I championed the improvement of test coverage, by introducing an improved test framework and focusing on testability when coding. The team improved pull request effectiveness. I introduced regular training and presentations by and for the developers. Helped and monitored customer support sessions.

Heading a team building the connection of the Internet Computer to the web2 internet. We use Rust to build reliable and secure components that interact with Nginx running in a VM environment. The team is using an agile process that we're continuously improving.The challenge we face is transmitting data to and from the internet computer while the software stack we build is hosted by other parties. Ensuring security here is difficult.

Responsible for running a 8 person team made up of developers, QA, UI and Devops. We build a query language (RQL) that allows correlation configuration, event, and network flow records from multiple clouds. We rely on AWS RDS, Elasticsearch, Kafka and many other technologies to query these huge data sources.My responsibilities include personnel management, hiring, code reviews, design reviews, and sometime a bit of coding. We use Java mostly.

I am the manager for the backend team. The Pinger backend is a well-oiled monolith that handles many thousands of communications from our customers every minute. The backend never stops. The challenges are building new functionality on years of existing code. In order to continue to move fast with new features and keeping the code quality high, I help the team adopting domain-driven design, object-oriented technologies and introducing a DevOps culture. The most important thing is improving test coverage. I try to stay out of the way and work on things no one wants to touch.I am fixing bugs, do code reviews and once in a while implement a small feature.During my tenure the backend started a refactoring effort to improve maintainability and testability. We introduced the team to DDD, added many more unit tests, and build a behavioral testing framework that was used by QA.
