emhTrade's purpose is to accelerate the adoption of renewable energy technology. My role is to help shape the company strategy and then deliver the products that realise it. This has included electricity retail, consumer engagement and community energy products. However, with emhTrade being a startup I get involved in everything from capital raising to coding to marketing and more.Key achievements include delivering an MVP consumer engagement product to test the market, then productionising this into a mobile app within three months, with a team of just one developer and one designer. I also co-developed the strategy for our community energy product including defining the customer segments to target, the value proposition and the solution.

Thirdweb's mission is to keep quality journalism accessible on the internet. I provided strategic and product advisory services to Thirdweb as they established their business model and product offering.

In this role I was responsible for agility at Trade Me, not just within software development teams but across the whole company. It was about encouraging communication and collaboration, fostering entrepreneurialism and innovation, and eliminating waste, all by using the methods and principles that underpin agile while not necessarily being bound to a particular methodology.As part of this I facilitated a company wide programme of work to rebuild our web front-end, co-ordinating the activities of over a dozen agile squads. I also ran the company OKR process, and set up an agile leadership team to help progress agile across this diverse organisation.

I was responsible for the Trade Me Jobs software development team. This entailed working closely with the Product Manager to figure out the best way to turn our roadmap into valuable software for our users and customers. I had direct or indirect line management responsibility for fifteen team members. I was accountable for the successful delivery of software development projects including maintainable architecture, quality and timeliness. I ensured my teams had the capability, autonomy and resources to get the job done, and supported them by coaching them to improve their work practices, and ensuring communication and collaboration was happening where it should be. My key achievement in this role was building the team; I hired all but two of them, and created a positive, outcome-focused culture. My team was among the most respected in the company within the first year, and this respect continued well after I moved onto another role.

I had overall responsibility for delivery of Equinox IT's software development projects, managing a team of over 20 developers and systems analysts. My job included pre-sales work, process/methodology improvement, contract negotiation, project management and governance, line management and recruitment. I also delivered training and consulting on lean-agile software development methods.My biggest contribution was being a key driver of the adoption of agile practices. I embraced these new techniques and took responsibility for ensuring that the team delivered as expected.

I worked on a number of software development projects, using mostly Microsoft-based technologies such as SQL Server, C# .Net etc. Initially a developer, I later contributed towards architectural direction in most of my projects and was the lead architect for our largest client, an application management system for the Ministry of Justice. More than this though, my technical capability was about just being able to solve problems and make things happen. I was considered a go-to person on many of my projects and this was what led to my promotion through team leadership and beyond.

I was responsible for process improvement with respect to certain aspects of the software change lifecycle. This included selecting and deploying the source code control and defect tracking systems, and managing the processes for using them.

I was responsible for maintaining the build and installation scripts for the product, and providing expertise in the use of the source code control tool (ClearCase).
