During my university years, I learned about 3D printing and also gained practical experience in different applications. Subsequently, I worked as a designer for an international company for 8 years, during which time I was involved in several prototype design and product development projects. In 2013, together with a university classmate, I co-founded a company with the aim of developing a 3D printer capable of producing high-quality prints suitable for healthcare applications. The Faculty of Chemical and Bioengineering purchased the first printer to develop their own materials for more effective treatment of glaucoma. After further development for dental applications, the equipment was showcased at the IDS World Exhibition in Cologne, where it received a very positive international reception and was sold to dental clinics and laboratories in more than 20 countries. In 2014, I encountered the pioneering work of the In Silico Biomechanics Laboratory at the National Center of Spinal Disorders. Since then, we have worked together on developing and optimizing various patient-specific devices and workflows based on 3D printing. Multiple internationally cited publications evidence the scientific value of our collaborative work over the years. In 2015, I filed a patent application for a novel, two-directional 3D printing process, which successfully passed the test of international patenting. The essence of the method is that it allows the construction of a 3D shape from multiple directions simultaneously during the printing process, significantly reducing production time and the amount of support material required. Between 2015 and 2020, I concurrently managed the further development of the previously introduced dental 3D printer and the design and construction of a prototype for the two-directional device. In 2020, Duplex GmbH began the development of a product based on the patented technology, working on the principle of filament extrusion, and presented it in the market-ready form at the FormNext exhibition in Frankfurt in November 2022. In 2023, I was admitted to the Doctoral School of Semmelweis University, and I am conducting my research at the ISBL laboratory concerning the clinical integration of two-directional 3D printing. Additive manufacturing holds great potential in healthcare applications, allowing us to produce anatomical models for surgical planning, patient-specific navigation tools, and implants. The main goal of my research is to provide a comparative analysis of a series of complex spinal geometries.
