Marty’s education profession began in 1994 when he graduated with honors from Missouri State University. He was the youngest Health/Physical Education Teacher, Assistant Basketball, and Head/Assistant Cross Country Coach ever hired at Glendale High School. Marty followed his B.S. Degree up with a Master of Science Degree in 1999, and a Specialist in Education Degree in 2003, all from Missouri State University. In 2001, Marty was named Assistant Principal and MSHSAA Athletic/Activities Director at Kickapoo High School. In his six years at Kickapoo, Marty championed a sportsmanship initiative and his teams saw numerous successes at the state/national level. In 2007, Marty was named Principal at Jarrett Middle School, and raised attendance of students to the highest mark seen in over a decade. In 2010, Marty returned to the high school ranks as an administrator at Glendale High School, and served as the Springfield Public Schools Athletics/Activities Advisory Chair, while assisting with the Bass Pro Tournament of Champions and Pink & White Lady Classic. In 2013, Marty was named Assistant Director of Athletics for Springfield Public Schools, the largest District in the state of Missouri. During his tenure, he has transitioned all middle school athletic programs to MSHSAA, implemented Cross Country and Archery in the District, and has Coordinated the Bass Pro Tournament of Champions (#1 attended HS Boys Basketball Tournament in the country) and Pink & White Lady Classic (largest HS Girls Basketball Tournament in the state of Missouri). Marty earned the distinction of Certified Athletic Administrator by the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association in April of 2018. Marty has spoken at numerous local, state, and national conferences on a wide array of educational topics, and has supported numerous district and state athletic events. Marty currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Champions Commited to Kids organization.
