As a Deckhand on the Columbia Dredge. Duties range from the start up and shutdown procedures of the Vessel on a rotating Day, Afternoon and Graveyard shift. During operation, the Deckhand maintains vessel greasing, ballast readings, painting and/or various maintenance and housekeeping duties assigned or/as required.The Deckhand also tends to various pump clean-outs, such as freeing the impeller pumps of debris, such as underwater rocks, wood, cable straps or any other random debris which may be sucked up during the Dredging operation which halts the continuous pumping of sand as required per the job.Other requirements of the Deckhand is to maintain the organization and workings of various tools and equipment required on the accompanying Tender boat A-Frames, such as pumps, winches, come-a longs, shackles, ropes, lifting straps, cutting torches and air tools. The Deckhand also assists with duties onboard the Tender boat A-frame, moving various anchors, such as Vessel Swing anchors, Pipeline anchors, Donkey winch anchors as well as the Eb and Flood anchors as needed. The Deckhand also tends to adding and/or removing floating pipeline as deemed necessary to pump sand for various contractual responsibilities.Further more the Deckhand may also provide aid or assistance to the on board Welder and Engineer as requested.
