First of its kind Indigenous partnership with the Province of Saskatchewan. Everything financial for building an Urgent Care Center, Diagnostic Imaging, and a medical campus with SIIT.

Formalized business consulting services provided to Indigenous communities and entrepreneurs since 2007. This resulted in successfully starting and becing a trusted advisor to First Nations in both Alberta and Saskatchewan. Successfully write grant proposals, business plans, and feasibility studies. The company developed a highly specialized indigenous business development tool to assist band councils and make fact base decisions.

Located at the Horizon Site in Northern Alberta, I support upgrading and utilities spend over $325M/annum. I work with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, Maximo, and Data Access Studio, Hyperion ESSbase, and Oracle Business Intelligence to create a suite of both manual and automated reports.

CNRL purchased Albian Sands from Shell in June 2017. I am located on site to support Mine Production for both the Muskeg River and the Jackpine mines with total spend over $350M. I work with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, Maximo, and Data Access Studio, and Hyperion ESSbase. I am also responsible for the Mine’s largest spend fuel which involves working with multiple stakeholders and reconciliation at the end of each month. I regularly identify opportunities and review projects to ensure fiscal sustainability and am involved in the month-end process of creating journal entries and general visibility to business partners.

I am tasked for overseeing approximately $16M in assets for AMDI and Aboriginal Financial Institution (AFI). Our organization is committed to providing profitable and sustainable financial services and support to Aboriginal clients who seek the means to attain economic self-sufficiency. Services Provided Include: Small Business Loans; Access to Small Business Grant (MEAP & SEAP); and, Support Service Programs; Business Advisory Services.

Located on site, I provided strong, effective support to major lines of business with total spend over $600M for Mine Mobile Maintenance and Mine Production for both the Muskeg River and the Jackpine mines at the Shell Albian Oilsands. Initially, I participated in the month-end accounting cycle by creating accruals and Journal entries; however, as the team was shifting to more value-added activities I helped to offshore routine tasks surrounding month-end requirements. The result was that my focus shifted to a finance-in- business team, where I was heavily involved in driving cost-leadership initiatives with business partners that saved to company millions of dollars (e.g. – rent vs. buy, tire life, large vendors such as Finning, etc…). I provided insight and help stakeholders to understand a multitude of issues affecting their business and identify opportunities for enhancements. I frequently utilized large data dumps from SAP and manipulate data into a usable report with excel – typically with pivot tables. Another notable activity that I participated in was that I represented finance on the Goal Zero safety committee and enjoy working with challenging and complex problems.

I worked collaboratively on a policy team that provided advice/reports to central agencies and senior management. Participation in the development and review of national frameworks/protocols (e.g. – Reviewing Canada’s Loans to Native Recipients Program and Existing Canada’s Fiscal Approach for Self-Government Arrangements). Additional duties include managing the Claims envelope (e.g. – forecasting and reconciling $500M) and reviewing both Memorandums to Cabinet and Treasury Board Submissions.

I worked collaboratively with both Aboriginal clients and external partners (e.g. – Financial Institutions/Consultants) to assist regional clients to access Federal Government Grants. I specialized in business development projects and advised senior managers of issues specific to Southern Alberta. I analyzed projects financial statements, target markets, and made recommendations surrounding the likelihood of success. I determined applicant eligibility and participated in team screening meetings to obtain approval for over 100 projects valued over $5M that leveraged at least an additional $10M for which I created contracts that were issued to clients.

I worked collaboratively with both Aboriginal clients and external partners to assist regional clients to access Federal Government Grants. I analyzed projects and made recommendations surrounding the likelihood of success. I determined applicant eligibility and participated in team screening meetings to obtain approval for projects. I created contracts that are issued to clients.

I consulted with First Nation groups and tribal councils to develop feasibility studies for large-scale projects. I also work with Aboriginal entrepreneurs to develop business plans that access traditional financing institutions and government grants. I also attended career fairs and provided business development seminars.

I was responsible for: the accounting cycle with “ACCPAC”, evaluation and analysis of financial data including the development and analysis of financial forecasting models, development of financial proposals to request funding, administering contracts to ensure compliance with regulations and reporting to the Executive Director/Board of Directors/funders, maintaining supplier relationships and paying bills, holding and distributing petty cash, overseeing and updating employees records, building security, and monitoring office supplies, administering payroll/employer/employee pension plan/health plan/union contributions, preparation of annual general returns/T4s, providing recommendations to the Executive Director and Board of Directors, representation of the Agency in public forums, preparation and editing of proposals/documents including the newsletter, and project management as required.Key Contributions• Upgraded the Accounting System from ACCPAC Dos Version 7.0 to Simply Accounting.• Recruited and worked with an IT person to develop and implement an IT plan a secure network.• Financial analysis recommending boiler replacement, including payback period.• Recruited and contracted a cleaning person for the building.• Created a comparative salary analysis of the Centre to other NGOs.

Reported to the Assistant Deputy Minister and functioned as the Chief Financial Officer. Managed division’s budget and co-ordinated the department wide budgets according to the Financial Administration Manual. Responsible for the Northern Development Fund’s (NDF) grants and loans and the winding down of the Northern Revolving Loan Fund (NRLF). Provided leadership and direction in the areas of financial and administrative services, budget services, and the development, delivery and coordination of programs, services and activities related to business development and the expansion and diversification of the northern economy. Represented management as co-chair of the Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) committee. From July 2003 to May 2004 duties were temporarily expanded to relieve a vacancy and act as “Director of Regional Development”. Key Contributions• Supervised and implemented a scorecard to ensure equitable access to grants for northern citizens of Saskatchewan.

Responsible for: interpretation of financial statements from “Oracle Financials”, development and maintenance of financial forecasting models and budgets, auditing, processing and tracking accounts payable, processing purchase orders and cheque requisitions, holding and distributing petty cash, ensuring that all related City of Regina acquisition policies are followed. Responsible for; assessing, tracking, billing and forecasting the computer system needs of the department, acting as a liaison between the fire department and the City of Regina systems department, project management, development/documentation/support of Databases with “Microsoft Access”, converting data from “DataEase”, assisting staff with: CAD, RMS, Word, Excel, Visio systems, assisting the department in: development, implementation, evaluation of new programs, assisting staff with any problems that might arise.
