Marty has been creating digital visual effects for film and television for over two decades. He is an Emmy award-winning artist and outdoors photographer, published around the world. During this time, Blumen has collaborated with an Oscar award-winning director, composited visual effects on A-grade Hollywood features, and, contributed to a Sundance award-winning film, amongst others.Marty’s varied creative career has taken him across the globe, from the world-famous Jim Henson Creature Shop, in London, to various post-production companies across Australia and New Zealand, including Framestore and Animal Logic, to running RemoteVFX, an independent visual effects business initially established in the rugged South Island of New Zealand. His compositing work includes a diverse range of genres, from Jimmy Chin's and Chai Vasarhelyi's acclaimed alpine climbing documentary Meru, Tom Cruise's Burj Khalifa Imax sequence in Mission Impossible 4, to the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Spider-Man: No Way Home.His outdoor photography includes rock climbing and landscape images, winning the Grand Prize of the respected Banff Mountain Photography Competition, and was published in magazines, including National Geographic, Outside and New Zealand Geographic. He has delivered photography workshops and talks for the New Zealand Alpine Club sections and, at the New Zealand Mountain Film Festival, Wanaka. His interest in human-powered performance has led him to obtain a Certified Personal Trainer from the Brookbush Institute of Human Movement Science and an Anatomy Specialization certificate from the University of Michigan, Coursera. Coming full circle, beginning his career creating Nuclear Medicine and medical multimedia for CD-ROMs, he completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Interaction Design and Electronic Arts, Human-centred design at the University of Sydney, where he was awarded the Dean's List of Excellence in Academic Performance. Additionally, he is a member of the Visual Effects Society, the Australian Cinematographers Society, and the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts.
