Since leaving his arts music major at the Australian National University more than 20 years ago Marty has toured the world as a working musician, composer, producer and arranger.He has scored work for Broadcast, Short and Feature Film, Documentary, Theatre, Circus and Cabaret winning an award for best score for “Smoke & Mirrors” at the Helpmann awards in 2010. He has worked as a musical director for shows in London’s West End and on Broadway, NYC and has worked as a musical director and arranger at international festivals such as Edinburgh International Festival, Edinburgh Fringe, Adelaide Cabaret Festival, London Southbank and Sydney FestivalAs a composer for screen and broadcast, previous clients of Marty’s have included the BBC (including writing the theme and incidental music for 5 live’s coverage of the 2015 Rugby World Cup and music for BBC Sports 2017 Rugby League World Cup television coverage), Discovery Channel, Hopscotch Films, Arpeggio Pictures, The Gate Worldwide, Delicious Digital, Fox Sports, ABCTV and Channel 7 Australia.Marty’s experience as both a session guitar player and producer has placed him in broad variety of musical genres from orchestral work to jazz big band, country bands, pop, hard rock and metal. His love and experience of a wide variety of music gives him enormous flexibility and range in his role as a composer. As a producer Marty has made over 70 albums and worked on countless single sessions. He was nominated as rock producer of the year at the IMAs in NYC in 2018. His performance and recording credits are numerous and varied from avant-garde punk icon Nina Hagen to super star counter-tenor Jimmy Somerville and Australian music legend Jimmy Little and a number of high profile pop acts such as Ronan Keating, Robbie Williams, Human Nature and David Campbell.From his generously equipped studio based in Edinburgh Marty delivers high quality works composed and produced in house with quick turn around times. Metro 13 is a one stop shop for the writing, recording, mixing and delivery of music, boasting a collection of vintage synthesizers and high end sample libraries as well as a large collection of amplifiers and quality things with strings.
