MassDevelopment, the state’s finance and development authority, works with businesses, nonprofits, financial institutions, and communities to stimulate economic growth across the Commonwealth. From FY12 through FY17, I directed a 175 person team and oversaw investments of $20 billion in over 1600 Massachusetts projects. Through tax-exempt bonds, balance sheet lending and guarantees, and Agency developed real estate projects, MassDevelopment created more than 80,000 jobs, built or renovated more than 12,000 residential units, and assisted private and non-profit businesses that employed over 650,000 people.Priorities included leading a cross sector team to design and implement a first in the nation, community driven approach to state assistance in urban revitalization, the Transformative Development Initiative (TDI). This program, serving as the Commonwealth's urban redevelopment innovation lab, has built local capacity to realize equitable economic growth, engaged the community, and catalyzed public and private investment in 10 targeted districts in distressed communities across Massachusetts. Through FY 2017, TDI's direct investments of $10 million influenced/leveraged nearly $70 million in additional public/private investment in these communities.Additional areas of focus included increasing the Commonwealth's affordable housing supply, promoting the Massachusetts advanced manufacturing sector, and instituting new performance managment systems and metrics to measure the Agency's accomplishments.

Managed staff and project teams for development and construction of new properties from site selection through planning and zoning/entitlement process, design, construction, lease-up, stabilized operation, conversion to permanent debt. Directed asset management for multifamily portfolio, including monthly fiscal reviews, annual financial statement approval, refinancings, project sales, investor relations. Generated new business by identifying strategic opportunities and assembling and leading teams.
