Supporting the operational field business with British Gas to ensure the safe deployment of over 17 million smart meters in customer’s homes.• Managing a team of Safety Assurance Experts (SAE’s).• Liaising with the HSE in relation to RIDDOR • Writing and reviewing risk assessments• Planning and assisting with Audits - Gas Safe, MOCOPA, DNO• Provide leadership and proactive support to the field operation teams, supporting the direction, formulating HSES plans, agreeing KPI’s and monitoring their implementation.• Performed lead role on investigations of category one incidents• Develop, sustain and drive a culture that stimulates high levels of HSES performance and continuous improvement aligned with the strategic plans.• Proficient in technical updates, risk assessments, corrective actions and root cause investigations• Liaised with Operational Managers to identify risk within their teams and provided advice on mitigating risk, implementing best practice to reduce personal injury & technical frequency rate year on year• Identify improvements in current HSES delivery and adapt the capability and strategy in a timely manner.• Develop and leverage appropriate networks for strategic purposes including maintaining relationships with key stakeholders• Keep abreast of legislative change, influence where possible and ensure that operating business, assets and projects are legally compliant and in line with industry best practice.• Liaised with relevant stakeholders regarding safety and technical guidance and ensured all operations complied with Health and Safety legislation and technical regulations• Develop and manage a forward agenda of HSES improvement programmes incorporating any initiatives proposed by field operations ensuring consistency across the teams as appropriate.
