- React CMS application: Provided frontend expertise to a team of 8 full-stack developers who were a year into building a React CMS application. Made immediate impact by identifying development bottlenecks and rewrote several components to improve application performance and allow new design features to be quickly added. Worked closely with the designer to build an advanced filter and search UI for displaying complex data. This component added a major new feature to the CMS and was quickly integrated into several further projects.- React UI component library: Joined a team of frontend developers and designers on a 2 year project to build a mono-repo of UI components. Promoted the importance of building accessible components and provided guidance and mentorship to the team to achieve this goal. Maintained constant communication between all product teams to identify and produce new features for each UI component. The final library of 70+ components created consistent branding and reduced the development time across every product team.

- News Central: Led a team of frontend developers building a major internal application that allowed 5000 journalists to collaborate on breaking news feeds and organise running orders for TV and radio. Created the initial template to allow several developers to work on individual features. Built the data visualisation that displayed live updated results to almost 18 million viewers on election night. This project was later the catalyst to BBC News moving to a fully responsive site in 2014.- Interactive thematic data maps: Built Flash library that reduced development time from weeks to hours allowing BBC News to add interactive maps to breaking news stories. These were used regularly for several years until the move to a responsive mobile site.- Embedded Media Player: Built javascript library for embedding video used on every BBC news page. I updated this for Beijing Olympics 2008 to create the first embedded live video.- Deaths on the road: Developed an interactive map using javascript and Microsoft Bing maps to allow the user to filter, search and view information and locations of over 36,000 recorded fatalities in the UK from the previous decade.
