Geologist, Groundwork's supervisor and project estimator. Working closely with clients from the project estimation and quotation stage through to project completion. Calling on a firm geological background I am able to apply my knowledge and understanding to my main market sectors including Horizontal Directional Drilling, land drainage, spring and water course catchments.

As a geologist within Waratah Coal I traveleld extensively throughout Queensland, being involved with many exploration projects. I have experience in the Galilee Basin operating out of Alpha, the styx basin project and most recently in the Surat basin. My main duties as an exploration geologist have been logging core, data entry and computerisation of field data and inputting and processing of geotechnical data for log corrections. I have also been able to call on my analytical skills to extract information from existing exploration reports in order to locate areas for future drilling and too pinpoint key stratigaphic targets using core and geophysical analysis. Being part of a small organisation I have been able to take on the roll of a site geologist and get hands on experience in many other areas or our operation. In this position I gained experience and qualifications as a site supervisor (s1,2 and 3) and site manager running a full drilling program for up to 3 rigs with my roll including the organisation of all site prep and rehab, the resupply of all consumables such as drilling products and casing and ensuring all the rigs are operating with maximum productivity and minimal down time. Getting hands on helping out the drilling crew during this time has in turn turn has given me a greater understanding of what is happening not only with the geology but also at the bit face. This experience has enabled me to manage operations on site more extensively and ensure high productivity is maintained.The types of drilling I have been involved with so far are conventional, RC, wireline (HQ3) and 4C coring and chipping.

Tasks involved while employed at Stenlakes included installation of new pipe lines for clean and dirty water as well as storage facilities for both. My time with my Stenlakes allowed me to take on lead rolls during installations with the experience and knowledge I gained from many years of work in the industry. Qualifications I gathered in this industry included the blue skilled operator ticket to operate excavators above and below 10tons and forward tipping dump trucks. The tickets are internationally recognised and awarded by CSCS.Other key aspects of the job involved computer literacy for the booking in and out of stock and the completion of job cards and time sheets.
