I performed small and large-scale protein expression and purification using ÄKTA-based chromatography techniques. Subsequently, I analysed purified proteins by different biophysical techniques such as gel fitration and SEC-MALLS (size exclusion chromatography coupled to multiangle laser light scattering) in order to characterise complexes and calculate the absolute mass; ITC (Isothermal titration calorimetry), SPR (Surface plasmon resonance) and NMR (Nuclear magnetic resonance) to establish binding constant and dynamics of proteins and peptides in complexes. Finaly, I have become involved in protein crystallography and in X-ray structure determination.

My PhD thesis title: Studies on the C. elegans Protein Kinase A (PK-A) Regulatory Subunit Gene (kin-2). Marie Curie EST PhD Fellowship provided me with an opportunity to investigate at the molecular level a specific regulatory system of protein kinase A, in a model organism, C. elegans. In this work, I used a combination of bioinformatics, molecular biology, genetic, biochemical analyses and proteomics to show that protein kinase A regulatory subunit can be expressed in different isoforms.
