Over seven and a half years FreightExchange grew from a pre-revenue state to an established business supporting blue-chip clients. As the technical co-founder I was primarily responsible for delivering the technology platform which the business used to attract and retain customers. As the business grew and matured, I was involved in many other aspects including:• Development of a cloud-based freight booking platform, both hands-on and by managing on and off-shore engineering teams.• Working with customers across many industries to implement solutions to manage their freight requirements.• Implementing integrations with numerous carriers to automate shipment creation and tracking.• Working with internal teams to capture and automate repetitive processes so that increased shipment volumes did not result in unsustainable workloads or increased overheads.• Ensuring that budgets and cashflow were actively managed to maintain a clear view of the company’s runway.• Managing off-shore Operations and Customer Service teams.• Delivering in-house industry training to new starters to ensure they have relevant subject matter knowledge.• Working with other co-founders to present to potential investors, in particular providing industry background to those not familiar with logistics.

Continuously and rapidly developing the innovative order and inventory management and shipment tracking platform to meet customer and internal requirements. Adopting DevOps principals to ensure the software and infrastructure are aligned.

Responsible for all aspects of the company’s IT as it underwent significant growth. As well as implementing more robust infrastructure this period also saw an increase in the amount of in-house development being carried out including the order management and tracking platform which now forms a significant part of the company’s commercial offering. Part of the team that successfully bid for a major contract in Australia and subsequently relocated to Sydney to build the company’s IT capabilities there including greatly increased development capabilities.

Supported company growth and new offices opening to cover support outside the UK and implemented consistent infrastructure in overseas offices. Took the lead on a project to combine two billing systems during this time which was subsequently rolled out globally.
