I have worked in scholarly and cultural publishing for eighteen years. After completing a PhD at the University of York and leading two post-doc projects, I entered professional publishing in 2006. Ten years later, I moved to the Royal Armouries to develop the books programme at the museum's three sites (Leeds, the Tower of London and Fort Nelson). In addition to my main publishing role, I spent six years as Emerald’s Thomson Reuters/Clarivate (ISI) liaison, and took an active role in taskforces that monitored open access developments, journal rankings, bibliometrics and trends in global higher education. I am a frequent contributor to international publishing workshops and training events, including seminars for ALPSP and London Book Fair, and have chaired numerous conference sessions around the world. I have also written viewpoints and analyses on publishing matters for the LSE 'Impact of Social Sciences' blog, Research Information, The Bookseller and the Times Higher Education.
