Editorial and advertising for this monthly magazine distributed at Best Buy. I was an integral part of a small team, very much like an agency, writing ad copy and generic tech articles designed to educate Best Buy sales associates and customers about consumer technologies. Our innovative team shared all responsibilities for the monthly workflow of the publication, including editing, design, layout, and mobile edition proofing. With this promotion, I took on mentoring and training duties for new writers, along with shifts on a tech support hotline. I wrote technology articles and reviews for Computer Power User (CPU), Smart Computing, PC Today, First Glimpse, and Processor. For 10 years following CPU's launch, I wrote the monthly "Extreme Hardware" column, later called "Dream Hardware." I also served several stints as Smart Computing's Action Editor.

I served as secretary for the Board in 2010.

After a few years of being a technical director in the Public Access department (1993-1995) and a Tandem minicomputer operator (1995-1996), I moved up to managing the LO department. I was in charge of five channels, a broadcast studio, an editing bay, and 5-7 employees. I interviewed, hired, and scheduled technical directors; timeslotted programming; and handled capital purchasing of the department's video, audio, and studio equipment. I trained broadcasting students, elementary school pupils, and members of the community in videography (studio and ENG), lighting, and video editing. I managed this department for 2 1/2 years, being responsible for programming seven days a week, as well as maintaining relations with city officials, local EMTs (for training videos), market researchers, and members of the local cable advisory board. For several years I also directed and cablecast live coverage of city council, county board, and city planning commission meetings.
