Accomplishments include:• upon retirement from Ameritech, appointed to a second paid tour as chief executive officer of CET by State Superintendent of Public Instruction (see below); corporation outsourced labor for up to 10 personnel with an annual operating budget varying between $0.8-$1.5 million.• presided over mission, strategy conversion, moving the project from one which focused on technology hardware for 9,000 families to one that focused on technology integration training and website resources for teachers.• appointed by Governor and State Superintendent to chair the state’s Education Technology Council (2006) and prepared master strategy, Indiana Digital Learning Plan, with that council; also prepared state technology plan for State Superintendent (2001).• developed and administered a computer recycling effort with legislature and State of Indiana that moved up to 4,200 computers per year into poor schools (2006-present).• pursued and attained my idea for an interpretation of the Indiana Code to include computing technology as equivalent to a textbook; will have far-reaching impact on a new vision for K-12.

CILC is a private not-for-profit organization that advocates for and advances the use of interactive videoconferencing for communication, collaboration and learning in the K-12 education community by providing planning, applications consulting, and specialty applications of content. CILC was named the nation’s most outstanding provider of K-12 videoconferencing content by the United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA) in both 2004 and 2005, winning their most prestigious Pioneer award. My roles included:• created the idea for the CILC as part of an Indiana utility regulatory settlement agreement in 1994 and secured $45 million in grant funding over a 10-year period as part of the agreement. • organized the corporation, hired its first employees, and served on the board of directors until 1999.• upon retirement from Ameritech served as chief executive officer of the corporation until 2005; corporation employed up to 30 personnel with an annual operating budget of $3 million and, at its peak, another $1 million-plus budget annually for grants. • beginning in 2003, converted to a nationally-based market for videoconferencing services representing 107 content providers, over 700 programs; built national award-winning website, www.cilc.org. The website is the nation’s leading website for K12 content and applications services.• performed typical CEO functions including strategy development, planning, funding, board management, corporate culture, oversight of operations and vendors, and key constituent and public policy relations.• performed a videoconferencing first in both 2004 and 2005: CILC hosted the nation’s first live interactive videoconference conference, the Keystone Conference, remotely for 125 schools in 31 states and six foreign countries. CILC secured planners and sponsors from across the nation to arrange architecture and plan conference agenda of K-12 videoconferencing best practices.
