Data Science is at the intersection of many disciplines, including computer science, mathematics, statistics, and storytelling. As a Data Scientist, I use them to experiment, test hypotheses, solve problems and predict outcomes. Previously, I worked at the Ford Foundation, which is the second largest foundation in the United States. I was responsible for data analytics and email marketing outreach. I am interested in the transformative power of data to effect change and move us forward. Due to the complexity of the dataset, I had to implement it in Spark. I set up a cluster of 8 AWS instances to process 53 million rows of data.
