About Marwa El-Sayed, Ph.D.

Formely a PhD candidate at the Chemical, Biochemical and Environmental Engineering Department at UMBC and conducting research in Air Quality & Atmospheric Chemistry at the Hennigan Lab (https://userpages.umbc.edu/~hennigan/). I graduated from the Chemical Engineering Department at Cairo University. I had my Masters of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the same university specifically in the field of Cleaner Production. I also had an Master of Philosophy in Engineering for Sustainable Development at University of Cambridge. Before starting my PhD, I was a Research Fellow at National Research Center as well as an Environmental Consultant at EcoConServ Consulting. My passion for the environment has made it the central theme of my professional life. I look for every real opportunity to contribute to people’s lives in light of the multiple challenges of air quality and climate change. I am also seeking opportunities to build rapport between science and communities in a sustainable way. Specifically at UMBC:• Developed a real-time ambient analytical method to characterize the reversibility of aqSOA formation through simultaneous measurements of gaseous and particle (ambient and dry) water-soluble organics. • Conducted seasonal field experiments in Baltimore to characterize the aqSOA formation in successive years.• Performed statistical analyses for large data-sets• Collected seasonal PM2.5 aerosol measurements• Mentoring undergraduate studentsFind my publications here: https://www.researchgate.net/profile/M_El-Sayed
