Marwa Khobieh has been involved in the humanitarian field and the non for profit sector since 2012. She has been personally impacted by the Syrian crisis and thus driven to make a real and lasting impact for refugees from around the world due to her lived experience. She was awarded The 2016 Community Service Award acknowledging her extensive volunteering efforts in Montreal by MAC. She was also a co-founder and board of director of the Canadian Alliances for Syrian Aid that supported and settled the first wave of Syrian refugees who arrived in Montreal in 2016.Marwa has experience working on international projects including being a member of the Syrian Kid's Foundation, which is a registered charity in Montreal that provides free education for more than 2000 Syrian refugee kids in Al-Salam school in Ryhalni - Turkey. Marwa moved to Toronto in 2016 to join the Syrian Canadian Foundation (SCF). She has been part of SCF since its inception in 2016, and was one of the pioneer’s who helped establish and develop the organization. Her role has been multi faceted over the years within SCF, from managing various innovative programs, running research-based projects with the Canadian academia sector, government institutions and the private sector, to leading SCF’s overall operations including its strategic future expansion, managing the staff, board of directors and increasing key partnerships nationally and guiding SCF’s revenue growth in doubling the budget annually in her current role as Executive Director.
