Biology Teacher
Current• Develop data-driven lesson plans that incorporate various teaching methods to engage learners in inquiry, accommodate different learning styles, and differentiate to meet learners’ various needs. Design standards-aligned assessments to evaluate learners on progress towards mastery of content-specific objectives. Utilize Microsoft suite programs, G suite programs, and various other tech tools and learning management systems to enhance delivery of instruction, train learners to be tech-savvy, and facilitate differentiation.• Serve as a committee member for the development of state assessments with the Pennsylvania Department of Education and Data Recognition Corporation. Facilitate the review of new assessment items, the implementation of scoring assessment items/rubric creation, and the review of field test data of assessment items. Served as part of curriculum framework team with PDE to facilitate updating the standards. Served as part of the Performance Level Descriptors committee with PDE/DRC to describe the specific knowledge and skills students develop at each performance level in support of the new science standards. • Develop and deliver professional development to district staff.• Participate as committee/cohort member in district-wide initiatives to enhance reading literacy, increase instructional technology, and foster social-emotional and resilient learning.• Coordinate department-level cooperation as a content facilitator; conduct both live and virtual staff trainings on instructional strategies, technological tools, and content-specific materials.• Mentor new staff through an induction program, serve as cooperating teacher to pre-service student teachers.Current courses: Honors Bio, Academic BioPreviously taught: Advanced Placement Biology, Foundations of Biology (Keystone Remediation), Environmental Science, Applied Science
