Senior Staff NurseSt. Francis Hospice Dublin Oct 1998 - Feb 2004County Dublin, Ireland• Staff Nurse in the Inpatient unit, Day care and Home care. • Acting Day Care Manager I year. Volunteer Co-ordination for the Day Care Service I managed and oversaw the training of volunteers for a roster for over a 100 permanent roles. I matched volunteers with patients in consideration of their personality and their unique personal and professional experiences. I created a safe space for volunteers to express feedback on their role and their needs, and provided guidance on the next steps that would be most suitable to everyone involved. I took into consideration the patient’s needs, the organizations circumstances and the volunteer’s feedback, in decision making.Care Giver Support Program I identified and communicated a gap in the support of patient care givers at home. Subsequently, I developed and implemented an empowerment program for family care givers. Attending to the wellbeing of these care givers, addressed a critical need in the overall care of hospice patients, creating an improved experience for all in the context of caring. The hospice incorporated support for carers as a result of the feedback from this initiative, which is now a weekly service
