I am looking for a new exciting challenge to share my textile knowledge with a different business.From my degree at university in textile and apparels, I wanted to follow my passion for this. Starting at Vanners Silk Mill I turned this experience into industry knowledge. Working for 18 years I have gained new skills within the business and industry. I started as a junior tie designer, this involved C.A.D designing on a windows textile software package. I moved on to being the senior designer of the furnishing and bridal department This involved me having to sort out problems on the looms, raising customer purchase order, pro-formers, visiting and talking to individual customers and assisting them with unique designs for there collections. Finally I became the company archivist, repairing, updating and cataloguing all the designs the company have produced.I am particularly proud of my time in furnishings department where I visited Chelsea Harbour and Saville row, Jermyn Street to meet customers for inspiration, this lead to a number of items being published in magazines and appearing on the catwalks at London fashion week.Outside of work I take great pleasure in volunteering for the Girl Guiding as a Rainbow leader. I have done this for the many years, which has involved using a lot of my industrial knowledge helping to plan, run, communicating with parents, doing the accounts and sorting out risk assessments. I hold a First response, safeguarding and DBS for working in a Nottinghamshire primary School and Girl Guiding.
