Registered charity Shad provides a leadership immersion for high-potential youth to help them develop and harness their immense capabilities. The Shad program experience is the entry point to a lifelong network that provides support, guidance and mentorship at key points in an alum's development.In my role, I define and implement Shad's advancement strategy and plans. I work closely with the CEO to secure major gifts; lead Shad's fundraising team; and collaborate with Shad's programs, alumni and communications teams to build Shad's visibility and financial sustainability.

For close to two decades, my high-impact role at Shad was to build deep, sustainable relationships with Shad’s funders, with a particular focus on major gifts.

TAB Products is a global leader in document and information management that provides end-to-end records management solutions. Originally focused primarily on managing paper records, during my tenure, the convergence of multiple technologies allowed me to take a more consultative role in helping customers migrate to new and exciting methods of managing their information and corporate knowledge repositories.

Vestronix was one of Waterloo Region’s early tech start-ups, with a brilliant technology that allowed perfect code to be written by non-programmers. Vestronix was a great introduction to the fast paced world of an early-stage technology venture. I led all day-to-day activities including staffing, project planning, and customer liaison.

On-Line Data in the late 80’s developed software for the early days of office automation. Focusing primarily on the medical and legal markets, the company built solutions that represented many clients’ first experience with personal computers. I managed internal and external relationships and workflow to ensure clients' expectations were met on time and on budget. I also led outreach, marketing and PR activities.

This board is one of Ontario’s largest Catholic school boards. In 1984, the province announced that it would fully-fund all years of high school for Catholic students; prior, students either paid tuition in their senior years or switched to the public system. I joined the Board at a time of high growth and transition, and this role was initially a student internship to complete the requirements of my Journalism studies. My initiative and accomplishments were acknowledged when the Board made the internship a full-time role, as its first in-house public relations professional. I created and executed internal and external communications plans, developed strong relationships with the media, and fostered a strong, positive presence for the board and its schools in Waterloo Region.
