Mary has an extensive background in strategic corporate communications and media relations spanning across a variety of industries, including sport, retail, government and not-for-profit. While her career began in the Canadian sport community supporting athletes and national sport organizations with strategic communications in high profile sport environments, Mary expanded her scope through long term projects like the 2010 Olympic Winter Games where she also led on media strategies for public engagement initiatives, sport events, issues management and quarterly financial reporting. Since then, Mary has worked in the not-for-profit sector co-leading in the development of a marketing and communications team responsible for both global and national engagement initiatives, followed by 2 years in the retail sector, building consumer facing PR and organizational–wide internal and external communications strategies. Most recently, Mary served as Vice President, Corporate Communications and Deputy General Manager for Hill + Knowlton Strategies. Mary has extensive experience working with senior executives including CEOs, advising on long term strategies to advance a company’s organizational and communications objectives, as well as working with internal teams on the development and execution of public facing issues management strategies and crisis communications planning.
