As a CASA, I volunteer my time (approx 15-20 hours a week) to represent the interests of deprived, neglected and abused children in Juvenile Court.Often those children's interests are overlooked or ignored by the agencies involved. It is my responsibility to make sure that their interest is voiced in Court. In developing my recommendations I work closely with the disfunctional parent(s), monitor their Court ordered issues in order for them to qualify to regain custody of their children, as well as monitoring the well being of the children while they are in the custody of the State.While in Court I present the Judge with the pertinent facts of the case, and my recommendations based on my findings. It is also my primary responsiblity to ensure that the children whose well being I am responsible for, are well taken care of by their foster families, DFCS, or other family members.
