The success of the venture led to their ability to hire more staff, and so I took up a full-time position here.I was employed as a mentor and teacher to vulnerable individuals and people (participants) who had become distanced from the job market, helping them learn valuable and marketable skills, such as programming and web development, with a view to allowing them to reintegrate with society, get a job or to continue on with education. The company was run as a working IT consultancy, with the participants working on active projects for real clients. I was responsible for managing and running the web-development department, and was also heavily involved with 3D-printing and with the other product offerings.During the inevitable lock-down shut-down. I single-handedly set up and managed a Discord server for the participants within Roads Technology and the many hundreds of clients within the wider Arkin community, to allow them to continue communicating with each other and to mitigate somewhat the the threats that the isolation and disruption inevitably posed to this vulnerable segment of society.
