As a Volunteer, I contribute to driving positive change and creating inclusive spaces within communities. I oversee and coordinate various projects aimed at addressing the needs and concerns of women, promoting their empowerment, and fostering their overall well-being. My roles are developing programs and initiatives that address the identified needs of women and girls in the rural communities and urban informal settlements i.e. educational workshops, skill development programs, health and wellness initiatives, entrepreneurship support and campaigns to raise awareness about women's rights. Responsible for managing project budgets and ensuring optimal allocation of resources. Maintain accurate records, prepare progress reports, and document project achievements, challenges, and lessons learned. Actively engage with women in the community, seeking their input, involvement, and feedback in project activities ensuring that the projects are designed and implemented in a way that truly addresses their needs and aspirations. Conduct needs assessments within the community to identify the contextual challenges and requirements of women i.e. gathering data, conducting surveys or interviews, and collaborating with stakeholders to understand the most pressing issues affecting women and girls.

• Provide logistical and administrative support for different projects, overseeing implementation according to the scope, timelines and budget, and ensuring high quality documents were delivered to clients while upholding quality assurance measures and compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices. • Developing comprehensive program plans, including objectives, strategies, and key milestones, and ensuring successful execution in alignment with organizational objectives. • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to establish effective partnerships and secure necessary resources for program implementation.• Monitoring program progress, collect and analyze data, and preparing regular reports to track performance, identify areas for improvement, and measure impact.• Increase efficiency and effectiveness of projects and decreased project cost, increasing quality of project delivery.• Coordinating cross-functional teams including staff, stakeholders, and partner organizations to efficiently achieve program goals.• Developing and implementing comprehensive program plans, objectives, strategies, and key milestones in alignment with organizational objectives.• Establishing relationships with project stakeholders and partner organizations, ensuring successful program implementation and sustainability.

Collected and analyzed transcribed data by breaking down the data into meaningful units of text, such as sentences or paragraphs. Identifying key themes and patterns for the Disability Landscape Analysis Project carried out in 13 counties and National level in the deconstructed data using NVivo version 12. Reconstruct the data by grouping and categorizing themes and patterns to identify common threads and insights. Emerging patterns and themes: Establish emerging patterns and themes by applying a predetermined structure based on research questions to guide the analysis process. Used SharePoint as the data management system for transcripts, notes and Consent forms.

Led in the design and formulation of questions for data collection for the PAA Season 1 Project for adolescent girls in different areas in Nairobi county i.e. Kawangware, Riruta, Upper and Lower Waruku, Dagoretti North, Jamuhuri and Ngong Road areas. Mobilized school going adolescent girls from different economic backgrounds and age groups of between 13-19 years. Conducted 11 Focused Group Discussions (FGDs) on different topics such as romantic relationships amongst adolescents, friendships amongst adolescents, mental health in adolescents and sexual relations among adolescents. Facilitated 2 sessions and explored gaps on menstruation with adolescent girls from different backgrounds. Administered qualitative tools in partnership with UNICEF, for an FGD session for the feasibility study on the use of Oky App amongst adolescent girls.

Analyzed Qualitative data for 2 projects: Foundations for Learning (F4L) Baseline Study in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania and World Bank ASA Jobs for Refugees using Excel and Deedose software respectively.

Contributed to the design and formulation of the Learning Agenda for the Joint Investment Mechanism (JIM) Grant which is a collaborative intervention between the Ministry of Health (MoH) and UNICEF Kenya. The Learning Agenda provided a unified platform for UNICEF Kenya, the national Ministry of Health and the three county governments of Garissa, Kisumu and Samburu to jointly generate implementation research evidence. The Learning Agenda enabled reflection on the evidence, as well as the utilization of context-based research to improve the quality, reach and effectiveness of interventions for early childhood, adolescent health and wellbeing, and primary healthcare in the three counties.

Facilitated effective tools for the STEP-UP Study which was conducted in Homabay and Nairobi Counties in Kenya and 4 other countries: Bangladesh, Ghana, India and Senegal, in partnership with APHRC. Participated in field monitoring visits which ensured high quality data was collected through doing spot checks and randomly calling respondents, liaising with the data manager and ensuring GPS location for every interview conducted was on and accurate. Coordinated with the community leaders in identifying eligible respondents for specific activities. Administered tools for the Uplift the Girl Child Project in Homabay County in 2016. Co-led and guided a research team for the Adolescent Girls Initiative Kenya (AGI-K) Project which was rolled out in 2017-2019 in Nairobi county. Kibera area was the treatment group while Mathare area was the control group in the study. Tested and counselled adolescent girls on HIV and collected samples for HSV-2 virus testing, a biomarker component in the study. Successfully recruited and trained out of school adolescents on the use of tablets for tool self-administration for the Bridging the Gaps Initiative whose main focus was on mental health support for out of school adolescent boys and girls in Urban slums in Nakuru and Nairobi counties. The goal of the program, in partnership with REPACTED in Nakuru and IECE, was to evaluate the feasibility of integrating a mental health component into an evidence-based social, health and economic asset building program. The study explored the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on mental health and identified ways of mitigating challenges of implementing such a study during the pandemic. Successfully virtually interviewed over 250 respondents in the Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices towards COVID-19 in 2020.

Coordinated and was a project lead in different projects such as the Ethnic Preferences project where different games and photos were being used to determine what influences how people make decisions. Provided leadership for the Project on Challenges faced by women on cross border trade in the Uganda-Busia Border, in partnership with Sauti Africa. Supervised a team of 11 field officers and ensured the right participants were recruited by performing quality checks. Trained over 100 Busia-Uganda cross border traders on the use, accessibility and benefits of the Sauti-Africa platform where they would access information on cross border trading toll-free, using a USSD code with the main aim of reporting corruption cases through the platform. Implemented the project on gender biases at work in 2019 and conducted In-depth interviews with employed participants to get more insight on gender biases at work place. Administered Key Informant Interviews to participants for the Myriad Connect Project. Analyzed Qualitative data using data stripping on Excel sheet. Supervised 10 field officers ensuring validity and reliability in the data collected. Collected data on uptake of contraceptives among adolescent girls in Homabay, Kisumu and Migori Counties using the observation method where I contributed to the design of the mystery shopping protocol and instructions which was later followed up by semi-structured interviews to the pharmacists/attendants.

Undertook data review activities at the service delivery level and gave feedback to the sites/programs on data and data quality issues. Entered field data into the system for easy analysis and interpretation by the core team. Performed quality checks, ensuring accurate data is captured into the system before sending the reports to the Team Leader.
