The original founding Advisory Committee members for Women in Renewable Energy (WiRE) are planning the launch of a new fund to support education for women and female- identifying people who are studying to work in the clean energy transition in Canada. The Trellis Fund will be available to students in Canada, and will award 4 x $2500 annually. We are launching the fund in honour of WiRE Co-Founder Rebecca Black's mother Veronica Barnes (Gardner). Funding donors have already been secured for 2024 and 2025. We will announce the Trellis Fund on Thursday March 7th 2024 from 5 - 7 PM, to kick off International Women's Day (March 8).

At TREC, I have the privilege of working with a small group of amazing organizations working to build community owned renewable energy projects and educate and engage the public about a sustainable future. I manage full cycle bookkeeping and financial reporting for TREC and it's clients and can't wait to see where we can go next.Working for a dynamic group of smaller organizations my role includes everything from to day-to-day bookkeeping and banking, to reconciling revenue from solar and wind production, or producing accurate and timely reports as required for Grant Funding, Finance Committees, Boards of Directors or management level review. With TREC's recent development of Tapresty Community Capital my role also now encompass the development of Financial Models to scope out Community Bond Raises and taking what TREC has developed for the Renewable Energy sector to the Non-Profit and Co-op sector as a whole.
