About Mary Ann Kowalczyk

I am a learning solutions designer with 15+ years of experience in instructional design and eLearning. Colleagues and leaders recognize me as a detail-oriented project leader, dedicated to infusing empathy into the design process to ensure learners’ knowledge needs are met and understood. I am committed to quality and driven by a passion for client satisfaction, ensuring content is relevant, effective, and that any gaps are identified. Over the course of my career I have become skilled in leveraging instructional theories to spearhead the creation of captivating eLearning solutions. My career has provided me with experiences in multiple fields and multiple industries, so I bring a unique blend of skills. I have a genuine desire to improve the customer experience and I thrive in a team environment, collaborating with others in my field. Something new I am excited about is exploring innovative AI integration possibilities. On a more personal note, I have a deep passion for fertility and family-building. I have been actively involved in the infertility community since 2014, offering support, guidance, and resources to couples (and singles) on their journey to parenthood. In 2022 I started a Fertility Support Group for Discover employees to support each other, and built a case to present to HR in the hopes that fertility benefits be improved at the company. I'm proud to say the benefits now meet and exceed the Illinois BCBS insurance marketplace standard which is an amazing win! I also spent over a year leading a peer-led RESOLVE infertility support group as my way of giving back to the community. Finally having my son after years of infertility has helped me gain valuable insights and empathy, further enhancing my ability to create inclusive and supportive work environments.
