As Senior Vice President, Maryann supervised studio corporate campaigns and events (for The Cannell Studios) and show publicity and marketing initiatives for the productions (Stephen J. Cannell Productions) in Los Angeles, Ca and Vancouver, British Columbia. Television series included: “Wiseguy” (CBS), “Hunter” (NBC), “21 Jump Street” (FOX), “Booker” (FOX), “Sonny Spoon” (NBC), “Top of the Hill” (ABC) and numerous movies. Maryann joined Stephen J. Cannell Productions as a Director of Publicity and was promoted to Vice President, then Senior Vice President.

Maryann launched and supervised public relations activities, programs and events for many network and syndicated series including: "Star Trek: The Next Generation," "American Gladiators," "Top Cops," "Wheel of Fortune," "Hunter" and many others.

As Director of Publicity, Maryann coordinated and supervised all press and public relations for Miss Universe, Miss USA and Miss Teen USA Pageants (in the US and Internationally), as well as all titleholder press. She worked closely with all Pageant sponsors (Catalina, JC Penney, Evan Picone, Minolta, Maybelline, etc.). Additionally, Maryann was responsible for developing and/or coordinating and overseeing sponsor events, galas, Presidential dinners, etc. She wrote/edited all company press materials, brochures and event programs. On location for the Pageants, she supervised all press room activity and staff working with 80+ countries worldwide for the Pageant's CBS telecast and other Pageant events leading up to the main telecast.

Maryann's first job as a Publicist was working with Frank Liberman & Senior Publicist Jane Mullen, handling celebrities and Movie and TV projects. Frank Liberman & Associates clients included: Bob Hope, George Burns, Phyllis Diller, Lainie Kazan, Jack Klugman, Steve Allen, Jack Jones, James Brown, projects for NBC, CBS, ABC, Warner Brothers Studios, Paramount Studios, and many other entertainment-oriented accounts.

At CNN (1981-1983), Maryann Ridini Spencer worked as a writer, producer & field/producer director for the daily TV series and entertainment talk/news magazine shows: "People Now" (hosted by Lee Leonard), "The Mike Douglas Show" (hosted by Mike Douglas) and "The Bill Tush Show" (hosted by Bill Tush).Maryann also served as a writer/producer (Dave Bell Television - 1983) for the daily TV series "Alive & Well" (hosted by Mike Jerrick) and executive produced by Bonnie Hammer for USA Networks.During this time period, Maryann began working as a freelance journalist, writing for various national and regional newspapers and magazines.
