About Mary Beth Soya
I am one of the current Collections Survey Project Staff members at the Morgan Library & Museum. In this role, I handle different types of objects, physically examine them for conservation concerns or improper cataloguing, and review and update their TMS records as needed. I coordinate and interact with a variety of staff members at the Morgan, and utilize TMS, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace on a daily basis. Previously, I was the Academic Year and Summer Intern in the Imaging & Rights department at the Morgan, where I assisted on many Morgan exhibitions, publications, and projects. I also held the "Guestbook and Collections Aide Intern" role at Villa La Pietra on NYU - Florence's campus in Florence, Italy, during Summer 2023. I undertook both of these internships while earning my Master's in Museum Studies from New York University, and graduated in May 2024. I held the the Administrative Chair for the Museum Studies Student Organization (MSSO) and was a First-Year Representative. Prior to starting my Master's, I held positions as a Museum Educator at a National Historic Site, a Digital Accessibility Descriptions writer for the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, and as a "boba"-rista at Leaf and Bubble Tea Co. in Amarillo, Texas. Additionally, I assisted with researching most of the ArtCurious Podcast's Season 11 episodes, which highlights the way certain women (such as Berthe Weill and Gala Dalí) impacted important artists and the art world at large. I graduated in 2020 from the College of the Holy Cross with a Bachelors in Art History and English, and have a strong background in modern Art History and a variety of research methods, writing, and public speaking.
