Anesthesia Coder
CurrentCurrently, I am coding pediatric, cardic, neuro, adult, MRI, CT, ENT, and gastrointestinal charts as an anesthesia coder. I code directly from the OP notes. Having experience as a coder in anesthesia for 7 years in all specialties has provided a great foundation as a coder in my career.
Procedure Coding Specialist Ii
As a coder in Anesthesia, I was able to read medical anesthesia procedures provided by our mds and provide the most appropriate code selection so that they could in turn obtain reimbursement for their services. I worked with anesthesia mds for both the San Antonio area and Austin, which gave me more experience in my job. I achieved good feedback from my manager and obtained a pay raise after my first evaluation with the company.
Coder
Star was one of the best jobs, I've ever had. I became interested in the company when I saw that the doctors were actual partners in the company. To me this meant that they would be very interested and motivated in the continuation of the company. I was able to grow in my career by learning to code Anesthesia. I provided customer service by providing patient and surgeon offices anesthesia quotes over the phone and problem solved a few issues with patients face to face regarding their bill. As a coder, I coded from the anesthesia records from multi-hospital portals as well as the paper record and later on EMR records. I was engaged in office meetings, helped plan birthday parties of coworkers, helped clean the kitchen and even helped train a fellow new coder co-worker. My company co-workers became a family and we celebrated many successes together. During my employment at Star, I received bonuses every year and pay raises with every evaluation.
E&M Coding For Hospitals
My job was changed following a change in the company. All of the coders were sent to E&M and the rest of the coding was switched offshore. I was trained in E&M coding and learned how to code injections and infusions. For me this was not my best fit as a coder but I did learn a lot from this experience.
Coding Level 1
This was my first coding job. I had worked for almost a year in ER Registration for the same company and I was eager to start my coding career. I had earned my CCA certification with AHIMA a year before I started as a coder. I had many mangers over the years and eventually that lead me to the best manager that I had ever had. She encouraged me to continue to grow as a coder and was just as concerned for my personal successes as well as professional. My manager became my mentor and I learned a lot of skills through her. When she left the company, we have still stayed in contact and whenever I need advice, I know she is just a call away. Since I am eager to learn new skills and I am very responsible and my accuracy was high, I was selected to train on projects that I normally wouldn't not have as a Coder I. I excelled in my training and worked in several different types coding as well as earn raises over the years. My manger liked the fact that I didn't need constant monitoring and that whenever she asked me to do something out of the blue, I quickly agreed to help with whatever was needed of me.
Er Registrar
This was my first full time job for HCA and Parallon. I was trained as an ER Registrar. I excelled in my training and earned an award for having the highest score in my training. I started out by registration patients at the front desk and answering the phone call for all tasks needed as pertains to registration. Later I worked all shifts in the ER and excelled at working with my co-workers. The nurses were always busy so I helped them by adding clean towels to the warmer to ensure that this was always stocked. I listened to the patients and if they told me anything important, I made sure the nurses and the ER md was aware of this information if it was needed for patient care. Sometimes this allowed for the doctors to educate the patients on signs to look out for. My coworkers often told me that I went above the expectations of my job and we all worked well together. I registered patients in the ER and on various departments and floors including, Labor and Delivery, psychiatry, Rehab, Sleep Study, and ICU. I maintained a QA score of 95% accuracy..
