Awarded Fellowship at national community organizing group founded in 1968 to advance social, racial and economic justice by building the power and capacity of low-income people, especially people of color.• Developed plan for national affordable housing campaign to stem evictions and reverse income inequality in housing.

Led national organizing initiatives in Economic Justice, Retirement Security, and Health. Managed $500,000 to $4 million budgets. Led teams of 4 to 25. • Facilitated strategic planning that created CCC’s first 2 years of Key Result Areas, a common set of organizational goals. • Advanced organization agenda and growth, and raised millions of dollars for program and regranting to local field partners.• Organized (with others) high-profile national events promoting economic justice for low-income people and federal investment in low-income communities, including 3 presidential primary forums.• Constructed a new voter turnout organization, Long Island Civic Engagement Table, that mobilized Latino and Black voter turnout and engaged federal, state and local electeds • Spearheaded national Economic Justice Initiative with local campaigns in 12 states. Resulting victories: increased minimum wage, including tipped workers, in ME; expanded child care in Cincinnati; and defeated revenue-negative carbon tax in WA.• Drove $2 million campaign for Retirement Security that changed national conversation on Social Security from fighting cuts to urging expansion. Regranted $1 million to field partners. Deficit Commission recommended cuts were rejected. Field partners helped dismantle conservative group chapters.• Oversaw CCC participation and field work in Health Care for America Now’s successful campaign to secure significant and comprehensive national health care reform, the Affordable Care Act.• Managed a set of healthcare reform efforts to compliment HCAN efforts including mobilizing TN Black churches and radio, elite TN Democrats, Catholic groups and rural Whites. Delivered 3 blue dog votes in House Ways and Means, a swing in Senate HELP committee and 2 hard to get Democrats in final House vote.

Managed $2.4 million budget, 20+ FT staff and many interns. Partnered with Board of Directors on fundraising and planning.● Shaped strategy that combined grassroots, institutional and congregation-based organizing models and placed high value on teenage involvement. ● Won significant changes in Freddie Mac’s national multi-family program affecting up to 30,000 families. ● Oversaw 10-year parent-led campaign that resulted in construction of over 2700 school seats including 5 brand new schools.● Restructured teen service program into the premier US teen community organizing and leadership development program, Sistas and Brothas United. ● Increased funding base by over $500,000, with expanded sources including foundations. ● Strengthened and diversified staff and Board through structural shifts and focused recruitment. ● Collaborated with other groups to build 6+ city and statewide coalitions that increased organizing power.
