Designed, created and taught a public speaking course, Rhetorical Act: On-Cam and Confident™. The objective of this course is for students to acquire the requisite performance skills for advancement in their chosen fields of study. The Rhetorical Act course enhanced audio, visual, verbal, and written communication skills. This course was the study and application of English-language themes and concepts that guide the creation and performance of effective sketches and re-enactments from TV shows, poetry, interviews, plays, short stories, and students' own creations under the teacher's guidance and approval. Students created, delivered and critiqued performances by demonstrating their awareness and understanding of communicative and intercultural competencies and how oral discourse is adapted to different situations and audiences. In this class I taught college freshmen techniques to improve their communicative competence by implementing strategies to make them better public speakers. In addition, the course focused on students’ need to improve their ability to interview in English, since many students planned to study in the US and the UK for a semester abroad or to participate in a work & travel summer program.
