I have a professional background in broadcasting and television production and am an experienced qualitative researcher in the field of media and communication. Focusing on policy and practice I have published on media and cultural policy with particular focus on digital media and video production across the creative industries; documentary in the online era; public service media; and media representation of climate change, a topic on which I present in the YouTube clip below. I have extensive experience in postgraduate supervision, particularly with international students. An experienced teacher and curriculum developer, I have initiated online innovations in classroom teaching and in subject development and delivery such as, the Melbourne Media Map – an online directory of Melbourne’s expanding media sector based on the QUT initiative - and a cross-disciplinary, cross-faculty subject, Science in the Media, delivered entirely online for which I won an award in 2014. This subject is discussed in second video below.I am also the author of 'Reinventing Public Service Television for the Digital Future', published by Intellect in 2010.I am available for freelance and short term consultancy work, particularly in postgraduate studies, postgraduate coaching and online curriculum development.
