I’m an experienced lawyer, healthcare executive, and entrepreneur with over 30 years in business transactions and corporate M&A, and for the last 15 years exclusively in healthcare. I’m currently the President of PreferCare, a healthcare startup that partners with independent primary care practices for success in value-based care.Before my startup I was the Chief Legal & Admin Officer and Corporate Secretary of Tivity Health, Inc., a publicly traded small-mid cap company (fka Healthways), a well-known pioneer in care coordination and well-being in population health management. While at Tivity Health, I led corporate M&A, overseeing the divestiture of the company’s population health division, the $1.3 billion acquisition of Nutrisystem®, and later its divestiture, supported the board in navigating and settling two activist campaigns, shaping board and CEO succession plans, and significant corporate change, including a complete refresh of the board of directors during my tenure, five CEOs in five years, board and executive compensation, and corporate strategy. I established the company’s first ESG committee, led a corporate rebranding effort, and was responsible for enterprise risk management (including the corporate insurance program, notably D&O and cyber), cybersecurity (including HITRUST certification), privacy, compliance, HR, public relations, corporate and crisis communications, government relations, and supporting the company’s international division. At this stage of my career, I am beyond delighted to find that my experience is invaluable to my healthcare startup where we will change the way healthcare is delivered to our seniors in America. My superpowers are curiosity, practical possibilities, persistence, having a cool head in high stakes, and a tenacious view of the big picture. I create safe spaces for thought experiments in problem-solving. I’m unbothered to ask questions that may be viewed as unpopular. I’m a believer in strong, respectful relationships and pre-meeting work to make meetings work. I have a perpetually curious mindset that reframes problems aimed at practical possibilities.
