Biography | Mary Grace LiewPassionate about the Arts, Mary Grace Liew. A big fan of the movies, she studied filmmaking at Multimedia University and proceeded to challenge herself in many ways through various projects. Started out in the art department she aspires to create a new world with her visions and throughout her filmmaking journey, she realised that she has a bigger part to fill and decides to pursue a career in producing. Since then, her experiences include working with production houses and filmmakers on short films and often work with Singapore clientele. Over the last few years, Mary has projects which have been screened on film showcases and festivals as well online new modes media. Her notable works can be found on YouTube, “HELLP, an Interactive Short Film” and both documentaries “SOMETHING FISHY” and “BREAD”.In the last year, Mary recently co-produced Morning Elsewhere (2020), a Singapore production with POTOCOL film producer Sam Chua Weishi and writer-director Han Feng Yu. Mary has also produced Kavivarmen’s The Dying Artist (2019) that was a finalist in the 16th Mini Film Festival and was the production designer for Adam Zainal’s OSOM (2019) that was at BMW shorties. In 2020, she founded Foreground Pictures, a film company focused on the development and production of independent Asian films. They are currently developing their first feature film project and short films.Mary looks forward to the new generation of filmmakers and believes that asian cinema is in the forefront of it with many stories and cultures to be shared.
