After 14 years in project management I was offered an opportunity to join a product team that is actively driving transformation. Since product management require achieving technical goals by facilitating collaboration between people my past experience prepared me for this role. Amongst other things:- Collaborate with core business stakeholders to develop product strategy;- Ensure that the business’ demand is understood and clearly translated to a product development roadmap;- Manage cross functional teams to drive the vision to execution;- Work closely with demand management to set priorities for product development;- Oversee development through all the stages, right from planning and refinement to review and sprint.

With the implementation of a new Group Technology strategy and operating model at Massmart I moved into the role of Senior Manager Programme Management : Retail. This is an oversight function that provides leadership and guidance within the Technology team and specifically the PMO. My main responsibilities include:- Participate in the development and maintenance a governance framework for PMO;- Managing a group of Project Managers and Administrators ensuring we deliver projects that meets stakeholder expectations and creates business value;- Leadership and stakeholder engagement;- Team management including staff development.

In this role I was part of the leadership team replacing a highly customised and dated mainframe system with SAP S/4HANA Retail for Merchandise Management. The Programme consists of a number of projects and I am the Integration Lead for Business Readiness - covering:- Data Management (data migration, data purification, data governance) - Change Management (change, stakeholder management, training and communication)- Identity Management (IDM, authorisations, GRC).

Team Lead for the Can!Do Change Consortium assisting Mass Discounters with their S/4 HANA Retail implementation to prepare user adoption, stakeholder management, communication and training.

As a member of the Enterprise Information Management team I was assisting with the design, development and implementation of a data management framework. The framework will assist in the standardisation of data structures and management of data for Sasol through Data Governance and Data Stewardship models. The framework will be based on the DAMA DMBOK guidelines with the intent to mature data management culture within the organization. As the governance and embedment lead in the team my main function was:1) Documenting the strategic intent and ensuring that the tactical and functional implementation view is clear across the organization;2) Ensuring standards are set and met;3) Key processes are put into practice and governed;4) Develop the policies and procedures that describes the rules controlling the integrity, security, quality, and use of data during its lifecycle and state change;5) Develop the standards that will guide employees how to apply the policies and procedures;6) Change management with the business - mostly stakeholder engagement and communication.

Sasol appointed training lead for their New SAP Programme with the following high level responsibilities:- Review and provide input into change management, communication and training deliverables.- Develop and execute the end user training strategy.- Embed project training strategy in a sustainable manner.

BHP Billiton’s global, single instance SAP implementation is a transformation initiative which supports standardised and controlled business processes and data. The project implemented 1SAP to all of BHP Billiton across 4 phases. I held different roles across two customer sector groups as part of the change management team:• Release 1 and R2a as the Training Lead for the Aluminium Africa sector.• Release 2b as the Sustainable Learning Owner for the Aluminium Africa sector.• Release 3 as the Training Lead for the Aluminium sector with expanded deployment teams in Africa, Brazil, London and Australia.• Release 4 as the Training Lead for the Billiton Energy Coal South Africa (BECSA) sector.

Since January 2001 working independently for number of customers as:- ISO 9000 Lead Auditor. Implemented and maintained ISO 9000 quality systems.- Custom system development and involvement in system specifications, design of systems, interaction with and training the users, training material development, present training.- Corporate business documentation development, process management, quality audits.- Change management for system implementations, specialising in training.

Continued to manage the digital publishing department, but accepted additional responsibilities for client satisfaction, invoices, orders, leave, resource allocation, marketing, the premises and general management of the branch.

• Managed a group of documentation specialists doing consultation and documentation development at a number of large corporate clients. Duties include personnel management, team management, project management, financial management and client relations.• Developed documentation using MS Word, MS PowerPoint and online formats. The documentation included company policies, standard operating procedures, training manuals, user manuals, presentations and SAP R/3 training modules.• Main projects from 1999-2001: - Developed an intranet-based training (IBT) system in co-operation with the development department. On completion of the system, I was responsible for training and support, as well as development of the IBT lessons and modules. (Hillside Aluminium, Richards Bay) - Implemented an XML-based online documentation management system and developed standard operating procedures for a SAP implementation project. This was done in co-operation with the development department. (Iscor – Tshikondeni) - Managed publishing of training material for a SAP stabilisation project. My duties included quality assurance, liaison between the process modelling team, super users, STT lesson developers and final publishing of the material.
