CeoHome Director, Inc May 1997 - Feb 2001UsCo-founded the Home Director business while in the role of General Manager of the Home Networking Business Unit in IBM who was responsible for the development of this business beginning in 1997 as one of a number of product families in the division. The product family included software and hardware products for voice, video and data distribution through the home using wired, wireless, phoneline and powerline technologies. Grew the business from inception to $3M of revenue by year end 1999, at which time the business was spun-out as an independent company. Had direct management responsibilities for all functional aspects of the business: • Lead the sale of the business from IBM to a private equity firm, including all financial, legal, operational and intellectual property aspects of the deal. In 2001, lead the acquisition of a service-based, Silicon Valley company to round out the overall offering. • Led Series B and C funding rounds totaling $55 million and including investment from strategic industry players, Motorola and Cisco Systems.• Drove revenue to $16 million by 2000. Established key channel partnerships with telecommunications companies, including Verizon, SBC and Bell South, large builders, and major distributors including ADI, GE, and Sears. • Led the development of both short term and long term strategic and operational plans to position the company for ongoing growth and profitability by 2001. This included high focus on protection of first to market advantage through technology development, resulting in 15 patent filings in 2000 and 2001. -
