In 2004, one of a few programs that overcomes the devastating phonology problem of Dyslexia was brought to Special Educators in a NW Chicago suburb, and I completed the year-long SLANT System® Structured Literacy (SL) certification process. It was preceded by a wonderful 25 year span of urban, rural and suburban teaching and administration in elementary and secondary schools. These years have been a rewarding opportunity to use graduate school training in Special Education in 2 of the 13 disabilities (Dyslexia and Emotional Behavioral Disorders or EBD) in IDEA, the civil rights law for K-12 students with disabilities, and 55 credit hours of post-grad work in Special Education Law (with annual case law updates), technology, the latest research in teaching reading, writing, and math, and effective interventions for students with EBD.In 2018, I became an ASGPP ABE Certified Practitioner of Psychodrama following 780 hours of class work, a 5 hour exam, and an on-site observation.
