After nearly 30 years in the corporate investment and banking industry, I founded Personal Path Financial Planning – an independent, advice-only financial planning firm based in Hillsborough, NC in 2017. Through Personal Path, I’m able to continue my career’s long emphasis on building relationships, creating and maintaining smart money habits, and helping make a difference in the lives of my clients and colleagues.Across my career, I identified asset allocation solutions and tax efficient strategies, presented portfolio reviews, managed equity and fixed income portfolios, developed a client-services department for an all-equity management firm and supervised the Accounting and Trading departments while focusing the company on integrated solutions.I served as Vice President, Sr. Investment Advisor with TD Bank-Wealth, a Sr. Vice President, Sr. Portfolio Strategist for the Capital Management Group at First Citizens Bank ($5 billion in assets under management). Prior to this, I served as Sr. Vice President, Director of Client Management, and shareholder at Oak Value Capital Management, Inc. and helped grow firm assets to $2 billion. Mary also worked at Seaboard Investment Advisers, LLC (where assets topped $2 billion), focusing on client services and marketing, while also working as a trader and back-up compliance officer. My investment career began at Merrill Lynch, and my professional career began as a Finance Manager at Practical Care Corp, a home health service company.In my personal time - I'm an aspiring Boston Marathoner and have completed completed 5 marathons including the Marine Corp. Marathon in Washington, DC and the Outer Banks Marathon in Manteo, NC. Occasionally, I run ½ marathons for a change of “pace.”I received my MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Kenan-Flagler Business School and BS in Finance from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
