In the early 1980s, Maui Jim got its start selling sunglasses on the beach in Lahaina, Hawaii. Seeing a need for technology that could combat intense glare and harmful UV while bringing the brilliant colors of the island to life, our company engineered the revolutionary PolarizedPlus® lens. In 1996, our headquarters relocated to Peoria, Illinois, a friendly town with a culturally diverse atmosphere. The close proximity to St. Louis, Chicago, Indianapolis and Des Moines makes it a convenient location, while strong Midwest values make it a great place to raise a family. Over the years, Maui Jim has continued to offer high-performance design developments. In 2004, PolarizedPlus2® technology revolutionized the sunglass industry. In 2006, our direct surfacing lab was built to ensure precision prescription optics. MauiPassport™ followed in 2008, offering prescription wearers wide views and outstanding acuity. That same year, our new MauiHT™ lens brought clarity to low-light conditions. Maui Jim has distribution offices in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, India, Italy, Mexico, Spain, Sweden, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Hong Kong and the United States, including Lahaina, Hawaii.
