Stone Environmental Engineering & Science (STONE) acquired of assets of Columbus Asphalt Paving (CAP) in late 2021. To reflect the addition of construction services to our professional ecological, environmental, engineering and survey services, in 2022 our name was altered to CAP-STONE & Associates, Inc. Under the trade name of Stone Environmental Engineering & Science, we will continue to provide the responsive and expert services STONE is known for. Likewise, under the trade name of Columbus Asphalt Paving, we will continue CAP’s 48-year tradition of providing quality asphalt paving, concrete, and milling work throughout central Ohio.

Ms. Sharrett provides a vast array of environmental, natural resources, threatened and endangered species, and permitting consulting services throughout Ohio and the surrounding states. She is experienced in environmental consulting, specializing in all aspects of Nationwide, Isolated, and Individual Section 401/404 permits for large and small projects; coordinating with federal and state agencies for Threatened and Endangered Species and Cultural Resources. Ms. Sharrett also completes stream and wetland mitigation design as part of Section 401/404 permitting. She prepares and coordinates Categorical Exclusion documents and other National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents, particularly for DOT projects. Additionally she conducts record reviews and site reconnaissance for ODOT Environmental Screening reports, ASTM Phase I ESAs, and bank-specific or HUD Phase I ESAs, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) HTRW reports. She completes Phase II ESAs and underground storage tank closures as well as asbestos surveys, including records reviews, building and bridge inspections, sampling, and assessment of conditions.

Experienced in environmental engineering/consulting, managing S&ME’s Ohio Environmental Group since 2002. Manages and prepares Nationwide, Isolated, and Individual Section 401/404 permits for large footprint and corridor projects; coordinates with federal and state agencies for Threatened and Endangered Species and Cultural Resources. Completes stream and wetland mitigation design as part of Section 401/404 permitting. Prepares and coordinates Categorical Exclusion documents and other National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents. Manages stream and wetland mitigation construction and annual monitoring. Conducts record reviews and site reconnaissance for ODOT Environmental Screening reports, ASTM Phase I ESAs, and bank-specific or HUD Phase I ESAs, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) HTRW reports. Completes Phase II ESAs and underground storage tank closures. Conducts asbestos surveys, including records reviews, building and bridge inspections, sampling, and assessment of conditions.

Mary E. Sharrett, P.E., LEED® AP, has over 17 years of experience in environmental and geotechnical services and has managed BBCM’s environmental team since 2002. She is responsible environmental screenings; Phase 1 and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs); the observation of regulated underground storage tank removal following BUSTR guidance (including report preparation and site assessments); asbestos surveys (including records reviews, building and bridge inspections, sampling and assessment of conditions, and review of survey reports); and geotechnical subsurface investigations. In addition, she manages and prepares waterway permits including nationwide, isolated, and individual Section 401/404. Experience includes the 640-Acre Lima Reservoir, waterway permitting, Lima; 13-miles of US-33, ESA screening, Franklin and Fairfield Counties; the Montgomery County ODOT Garage, Phase II ESA; Dayton; ODOT Cleveland Garage, UST closure, Cleveland; POR-59 rehabilitation (4 sites), Phase II ESA, New Philadelphia; CR-23/Walhonding River Bridge, geotechnical investigation, Coshocton County; a retail facility (confidential client), waterway permitting, Phase I & II ESAs and ACM (asbestos containing material), Cincinnati; and Mallard Pond, waterway permitting, stream relocation and monitoring, Licking County.

Staff Engineer and Project Manager: Responsibilities included management, coordination, supervision and performance of Phase I, II and III environmental investigations; soil, sediment, water, air, and drum sampling; asbestos and lead based paint surveys; wetland delineations; UST closures; preparation of PUSTRCB submittals; air and storm water permit applications; and, storm water management plans, as well as reports, letters, proposals, and specifications.

Environmental Engineer: Responsibilities included field investigaitons on solid waste landfills and hazardous waste sites, including Superfund sites; extensive sampling events and pumping well tests at these sites; worked with government officials, specialists, and clients in defining remedial alternatives and goals; and, prepared detailed cost estimates, specifications, drawings, and calculations as part of Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study reports and Corrective Measure Studies.

Water Pollution Control Division. Responsibilities included permit development for on-site sewage systems; sanitary sewer extensions; and treatment plants; inspected their installations; reviewed permit requirements; analyzed monthly sampling reports; conducted compliance inspections; initiated Notices of Violation; investigated public complaints; and, participated in sample collections to verify water quality in streams.
