Currently on medical leave but hoping to return to Disney World soon. Started in housekeeping in order to get in full time and because my peers have called me things like "Stepford Wife" because I was always the one tidying up the office or other workplace. My goal is to get into guest relations, particularly for disabled guests since I myself have a couple of disabilities covered under the Americans With Disabilites Act so I am empathetic to the frustrations of others who are as well.

Worked as interviewer gathering demographics information for market research and advertising, which I was well-suited to as who buys what and why is so fascinating.

Worked at the same location since the store opened, but I am primarily a seasonal worker. I work primarily from around Halloween to around New Year's when William-Sonoma does about 90% of its business.I work making the displays as inviting as possible to the customers. It is a real joy to do this. Bakeware sales take off around Halloween, and then we are off to the races after that until the end of the holiday season on just about all of the merchandise.William-Sonoma is magical. Anything that I can do to add to the comforting atmosphere there is my honor. We all know that the kind of hate that leads to crime and terrorism is all around us. Yet we are there with food samples and pleasant smells and hospitality, which creates good will and reminds people stopping by the store that love is all around us too.

I loved taking pictures and doing my part to close the sale.There was no work while the team was away playing out-of-town games, I was ashamed to take Unemployment, which I qualified for much of the time that I worked this particular job. However, I did learn some valuable truths about selling.Contrary to the mindless bullying which too often passes for sales training in this country, sales are not closed by asking the customer for money. I didn't want anybody's grocery money for pictures, but we weren't selling crap out there. These were moments in time which weren't ever going to come back. Once the customer saw it that way, they were only too willing to give up their comparatively worthless money for the treasure that they would would be getting in return.
