About Mary Adam

I am a Chair and Non-executive Director and General Counsel with decades of experience in statutory, interjurisdictional, international and not-for-profit boards and committees across a range of sectors – public health, liquor and gambling, sports and recreation and community services. I am currently focussing on transitioning to corporate NED roles.I am a strategic advocate with strong stakeholder engagement skills and experience. I perform in complex environments, communicating across diverse technical areas and sectoral interests to achieve tailored and sustainable outcomes. As a leader and general counsel I operate as an integral part of the organisation’s fabric and decision-making processes. I am sought out for support before legal issues become crises. At a board level this gives me insight into the responsibilities of the executive and informs my practice as a non-executive director.I am experienced in governance and risk and financial management and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. My current investment in lifelong learning is to deepen my knowledge of AI and technical innovation and the potential risk and value to stakeholders and shareholders.I am an open water swimmer, walker (both bush and urban), triathlete and an aspiring stand up comic (with emphasis on the *aspiring* 🙃).
