I am so excited to share that I have recently been promoted to Material Flow Engineer at Moen Incorporated!

Principal Engineer responsible for Material Flow Engineering projects in and between the Moen assembly facility and Component Warehouse in New Bern, North Carolina, in addition to offsite warehousing both locally and across the state with 3PLs. Main responsibilities include managing programming, troubleshooting, and operation of a fleet of seven Vision-Guided Vehicles (VGVs), leading capital projects for increasing warehouse capacity, efficiency, and storage/retrieval optimization, and establishing and optimizing Material Flow processes.

Led and contributed to plant-wide, strategic projects to improve internal and external product quality, standardize select QMS processes and documentation, and establish baseline KPIs for analyzing and optimizing line changeovers.

I am the owner of Marz Aerial Arts & Fitness, running two separate studio spaces specializing in group classes, workshops, and events for training in Aerial Arts, Circus Arts, and Pole Fitness. Our adult programming includes classes, workshops, private lessons, and events for training in Aerial Silks, Aerial Sling, Aerial Lyra, Aerial Sphere, Pole Fitness, and more. For our "Mini Martians", we offer monthly Youth Series and annual Summer programs on Aerial Silks, Aerial Sling, Aerial Lyra, and Circus/Flow Arts. In addition to classes, we have a professional performance group, the Marz Aerial Circus, with 16 intermediate and advanced aerialists. As the owner of the studio, I lead a group of 22 team members, instructors, and performers: managing class offerings, marketing, and pricing options in addition to fostering a diverse, inclusive community of aerialists and fitness enthusiasts of all levels.

At the beginning of 2019 I started my 3rd co-op rotation at Moen, continuing over the summer onto my 4th rotation with the company and 2nd with the Material Flow Engineering team. During these two rotations I gained hours of hands-on automation experience with vision- and automatic-guided vehicles as well as autonomous mobile robots. I have been involved in the planning and implementation of demos and pilots within our plant for four different types of VGV, AGV, and AMR technologies. I have helped lead a VGV fleet expansion, with a final state of 7 vehicles serving 52 different stops and 70+ production cells. My involvement with the project allowed me to learn about VGV technology, programming, troubleshooting, and integration with other systems.In addition to assisting with the automation projects, I led a large-scale simulation project with FlexSim software. This project required me to teach myself how to use FlexSim, as well as some new statistical software, to digest hundreds of thousands of material flow data points. I created a baseline model of the Delivery, Shipping, and Receiving Processes for both the plant’s warehouse and the nearby component warehouse by analyzing historical SAP data, conducting time studies, and working with the warehouse teams.

I worked primarily with the Process Engineer for the Brazing department within Sub-assemblies and Service Kits. I worked on a variety of short-term and long-term projects, which included planning and leading a two-week long Kaizen event and overseeing the implementation of wastewater handling process updates. In addition to the project work, I assisted Process Engineers with their responsibilities and projects, working to constantly improve brazing and other manufacturing processes.

As the Quality Co-op at Moen's New Bern, NC manufacturing plant, I assisted the Quality Engineering team with their responsibilities and lead projects to improve overall plant and product quality. I gained lots of experience with automated and manual assembly, and conducted a long-term project to monitor and improve the quality of parts produced on the 2HL Centerset (CATS) automated assembly machine. I also gained experience lab testing and performing quality and process audits.

As an Engineering Village Mentor, I worked collaboratively with the other Mentors as well as the Resident Advisors (RAs) to plan educational, recreational, leadership, and service events for the first-year engineering students in the Engineering Village. Living in the Engineering Village with the students, I was able to provide help and advice with choosing classes, completing assignments, and even deciding which engineering discipline to pursue at NC State, around the clock. I frequently communicated with my mentees to ensure that they were aware of all the opportunities to get involved with the College of Engineering, University Housing, and around campus.

Developed and applied skills in goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills including marketing and customer relations, and business ethics to earn money for international travel and other Girl Scout activities. Consistently ranked as a Top Seller in our troop and local service unit with 500+ boxes per year in sales. In 2015, increased sales to 775 boxes and achieved ranking as a Top 100 Seller (out of 38,900 girls selling an average of 107.5 boxes each).
